Elizabeth C. Hawes, 83, passed away on Sunday March 15th at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood, Delaware.
Born in Amsterdam, Liz was the daughter of the late Allen and Camilla (Cole) Morris.
A graduate of Galway Schools, Elizabeth received her Bachelor’s Degree in teaching from the State University of New York at Oneonta.
Liz was an elementary school teacher for Draper Schools in Rotterdam for over 40 years and also worked as a substitute teacher at both Draper and Schalmont Schools after retirement.
A former member of Bellevue Reformed Church and a member of Lynnwood Reformed Church, Liz was a former choir member, organist and pianist at the church. A former volunteer with the Board of Elections, she was a member of the garden club and the bridge club.
She was a talented seamstress in retirement, and enjoyed quilting and crafts. She also loved to cook and bake.
Predeceased in August of 2019 by her beloved husband of 61 years Lowell M. Hawes, Elizabeth was predeceased by her sister, Neila Nowicki (Morris).
She is survived by her children, Laurence R. Hawes(Melissa) of West Chester, PA and Laurene Buckley (Jerald) of Magnolia, DE., and grandchildren, Megan Steele (Cody), Sara Buckley and Miles R.E. Hawes.
Due to the Covid 19 Virus, services will be held at a date and time to be announced in the future.
Interment will be held in West Galway Cemetery.
