Elizabeth A Hartman

d. February 19, 2015

Elizabeth A. Hartman, 26, of Rotterdam passed away at Ellis Hospital on Thursday February 19, 2015. Born in Johnson City, NY, she was the daughter of Dolores Hartman of Albany. Lizzie was a very loving, happy, and caring person. She had an infectious personality and a huge heart. Her fantastic sense of humor and laugh would get everyone going. Everyone at ARC knew Lizzie, her great smile, helping way and party planning abilities. She would coordinate "Fun in the Park" days and get people together to play volleyball, kickball and games. She would volunteer for events and be the life of the party. She was a big help with cleaning up after and would not leave until the job was done. Lizzie enjoyed roller blading, biking, swimming at local parks, dancing to Richard Simmons, shopping at 5 below, and shopping in general. She liked to see people smile. Lizzie was also a part of the Pirate All Stars cheerleading squad. She enjoyed participating in the competitions and having her picture taken in her uniform. Lizzie was an excellent cook, and would often find new recipes to try. Lizzie was always looking to help people, and she was very proud to be a blood donor. She volunteered at food bank, city mission, salvation army bell ringing, volunteering at the local food pantry and soup kitchen, cleaning a local church, handing out summer lunches, baking for bake sales to benefit My Path/peers/local families, helping fill vending machines at State Street, reading to children and peers, running bingo and other activity groups at program. Lizzie enjoyed playing games, and would teach people how to play them. If you've ever played with her, you could tell she was quite the card player (or card shark!). She also enjoyed playing B-I-N-G-O at the senior center. She was always playing jokes on everyone and also cheated at all card games! Lizzie and her housemates were a true family; with all that comes with being family, good times and challenging, but always caring for each other. They were a great support for each other. She was able to give words of wisdom and advice. She had a smile on her face that was able to brighten anyone's day when they were feeling down. She was a wonderful friend! Besides her mother, Lizzie is survived by her grandfather Glenn Hartman, one brother Leroy Hartman and one sister Alecia Hartman as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday 4PM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. There will be a reception to follow at 5pm, at the Moose Lodge 1332 Lower Broadway, Schenectady, NY 12306 Contributions can be made in Lizzie's memory to Schenectady ARC 214 State Street Schenectady, NY 12301. Elizabeth's mother and family would like to thank Schenectady ARC and all of its staff for all of the support and caring that they have provided to Lizzie over the years.
