Eleanor M. Wright

May 25, 1931 — January 27, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Eleanor Mae Wright announce her sudden passing on Monday, January 27, 2025 at the age of 93.  Born in Hyndsville, NY on May 25, 1931, she was the daughter of William and Kathleen (Hillsinger) Rettie.

Eleanor is predeceased by her husband David E. Wright and her brother William Rettie.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, William W. Wright (Laima), Deborah A. Barker and Karen L. Wright; her Grandchildren to whom she was Grandma “Kitty”, Alexander Barker, Deric Wright, Anastasia Barker, Emily Houlihan (Will), Cornelius Barker, Colin Wright, Ian Wright and Amelia Sobieski, six Great-Grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.

Eleanor lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; daily word games, eating ice cream, an avid reader, watching Jeopardy and hosting family events.  Her legacy is one of unyielding kindness, generosity and fairness. Her greatest joy was her family and knowing they were happy and safe.  We took care of her, and she took care of us with adoring words and open arms. We love you more than words could ever tell. A piece of our hearts will forever be missing. Eleanor, Mom, Grandma “Kitty”, will be desperately missed by all those that she’s left behind.

A Graveside service will be on Tuesday February 4, 2025 at 12 noon at the Saratoga National Cemetery 200 Duell Road Schuylerville. Please arrive at the visitor center at 11:45am.
