Eleanor Croote

Eleanor M. Croote 74of Rotterdam died Wednesday morning December 17th at Ellis Hospital after a long illness. Born and educated in Broadalbin, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Lewis and Freda Hicks and sister of the late Lewis Hicks. A home Health Care aide for over 20 years, she enjoyed shopping, bingo the casinos and spending her time with family and friends. Eleanor was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Schenectady, NY. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Richard J. Croote who she married September 28, 1952, her four daughters, Linda L. Russell (Ralph), Lisa A. Croote both of Schenectady, Laura L. Sowards (David) of Malabar, Fla. and Lenita C. Sherwood (Ronald) of Rotterdam, a sister Arlene Costa of Schenectady, five grandchildren, Richard J. Russell, Michelle Russell, Joshua D. Sowards, Zachery Sowards and Aleeza Sowards and several grand dogs and cats. A visitation will be held on Friday evening December 19th from 6 to 8 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, N.Y. relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral services will be held on Saturday private at the convenience of the family. Spring interment in Viewland Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY. Contributions may be made in Eleanor's memory to the Animal Protective Foundation of Schenectady, Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302. The family would like to thank the staff of Ellis Hospital on A-6 and Dr. Lawrence Wiener and staff for all of there excellent care.
