Eileen L Fanning (Mack)

Eileen L. Fanning, 88, of Lake Pleasant, NY passed away on Nov 22 at her home in Schenectady, NY. Born in Endicott, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Shaffer) Mack. For many years, Eileen was an art teacher for the Vestal Central School District. She retired with her husband to their favorite place in the Adirondacks, Lake Pleasant, NY. She was a passionate and award winning artist and wood carver. She was a member of the National Woodcarvers Association. Eileen designed and carved the front doors of the Holy Nativity Church in Endicott, NY. She volunteered in designing and carving two animals for the Adirondack carousel in Saranac Lake, NY. Eileen loved God and was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Sun City Arizona. She represented the Lutheran Church women at the NY State convention when she was a member of Holy Nativity Church. Eileen was especially fond of travelling with her husband in their motor home. They travelled all over the United States and finally found a snowbird home in Surprise, AZ where she enjoyed the sunshine, warm climate, clubs and friendships. Eileen always enjoyed family and friends. She was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband Harold E. Fanning whom she married February 23, 1952, her six loving children Debra Carlone (Edward) of Marathon, NY, Cynthia Knowlton (Norman) of Springfield, OH, Patricia Livingston (Stephen) of Newport Beach CA, Linda Stringer (Campbell) of Missoula, MT, Harold E. Fanning Jr. (Brenda) of Raleigh, NC and Pamela Chappell (Gregory) of Delanson, NY, one brother Joseph Mack (Late Helen) of Macedon, NY, two sisters Eleanor Paukett (Late Joseph) of Greene, NY and Janet Higham (Jack) of Vestal, NY, also survived by 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Eileen's life will be held in the spring of 2017. Contributions can be made in Eileen's memory to the charity of one's choice.
