Eileen L. Dykeman, 90 , of Schenectady died peacefully Sunday November 22, 2009 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home in Schenectady after a long and courageous battle with Breast Cancer and Alzheimers. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of William and Emma (Kiraly) Edmonds. She was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and Mildred Ellie Business School. Eileen was employed for 18 years as a Secretary for Schenectady County Family Court, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Albany Street Methodist Church, Rotterdam Senior Citizens and the Schenectady AARP. Eileen loved Roller-skating and Square Dancing. She loved shopping with her daughters. Eileen was a dedicated and loving Mother and Grandmother and will be greatly missed. She is predeceased by her husband Robert J. Dykeman whom she married October 4, 1941 and one brother William Edmonds Jr. Eileen is survived by three daughters- Sandra L. Dykeman-Feller ( Donald) of Hurley, NY, Sheryl Pelkey (Dennis) of Rotterdam and Sharyn L. Battaglia (Richard) of Clifton Park, also survived by one Grandson Dennis Pelkey II. Funeral Services will be Wednesday 2PM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend. A Calling Hour will be Wednesday 1-2PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Internment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Eileen's memory to the United Breast Cancer Foundation PO Box 12222 Albany, NY 12212 or to Community Hospice 1411 Union Street Schenectady, NY 12308. The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Dr. Gerardus Jameson, Georgina Araque and the entire Kingsway Staff for their 12 years of many acts of professional kindness and care for our Mom.
