Edward Sakacs

Edward W. Sakacs, 95, passed away at St Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam on Thursday February 25, 2021.

Born and educated in Rotterdam, NY, he was a graduate of Draper High School and and Edison Vocational and the son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Koczai )Sakacs .

A United State Navy veteran during World War II, Edward and his wife Doreen were instrumental with funding for he restoration of the USS Slater

A former clerk at the former Mahoney's Hardware Store in Schenectady, Edward later worked as an insurance agent with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He retired from Sunnyview Hospital as the head of maintenance after several years of service

Predeceased by his siblings Paul, Andrew, Stephen, John, Elizabeth and Mary, Edward is survived by his wife of over 75 years Doreen (Hookway) Sakacs and several great nieces and nephews.
