Edward V Pasko

d. May 2, 2013

Edward V. Pasko, 73, died peacefully Thursday evening May 2, 2013 at his home surrounded by family after a 14 month battle with cancer. Born in Scranton, PA, Edward was the son of the late Stanley and Louise (Bielawski) Pasko and brother of the late James M. Pasko. Ed was a 1957 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and worked several years for the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company. He later graduated from the General Electric Apprentice Course and worked at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) as a Design Draftsman for more than 39 years before his retirement in 1999. He was a member of various clubs, including the GE Quarter Century Club, Clearwater Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Divot Golf League (Stadium), Rody's Dart League, the 70 Plus Ski Club, and Knolls Fishing Club. An avid hunter and fisherman, Ed loved nature and the outdoors, especially the Adirondacks, and he was a long time member of the Sag Enibrut Loj of Lake Pleasant, NY, where he was known by his friends as Zen. Ed played the tenor banjo, and was always ready to please a crowd with his music. He also enjoyed the Saratoga Race Course, attending bluegrass festivals, camping, traveling, skiing and again, most of all, as he would say: "I love to fish." Ed thoroughly enjoyed all the stages of his life and was never afraid to try something new (e.g. downhill skiing after the age of 40). He always had a positive outlook and a keen perspective on life, which made many people seek his company, whether at work, play or in a fix. Ed relished spending time with his family, friends and many pets, as much as they did with him. Edward is survived by his wife and sweetheart, Dorothy A. (Kelly) Pasko, who he met in April 1957 and married on June 5th 1960, his children Joseph J. Pasko (Amy Hoffman) of Niverville, NY, Thomas M. Pasko (Emily) of Guilderland and Victoria Lynn Ferrante (Martha Hyland) of Delmar, grandchildren Jessica M. Pasko, Kelly T. Pasko, Edward K. Pasko, Madeline M. Pasko and Ryan J. Pasko, a brother Mark Pasko (Mary) of Colonie and sister Louise Carlini (Tony) of Ballston Spa. In accordance with Ed's wishes, his remains will be cremated and a visitation will be held on Wednesday evening May 8th at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY from 4 to 8 PM. A memorial service is to be held Thursday, May 9th at 10:00 AM at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 49 Killean Park, Colonie, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend both. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY or to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, 56 Game Farm Rd Delmar, NY 12054.
