Edward A. Olsiewski, 91, of Albany peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday June 9, 2022. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Julius and Veronica (Magiera) Olsiewski.
He was a graduate of Albany High School. Ed proudly served his country in the Army National Guard for 20 years, retiring as a Staff Sgt. He was self-employed as a carpenter for many years in the Capital District under E&M Contracting.
Ed is predeceased by his son Mark Olsiewski and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife Catherine DeRusso Olsiewski, daughters Deborah Klose (Donald), Janet Meers (Steve) and Karen Berger (Bob), eight grandchildren: Christopher Klose (Jennifer), Sandra Dawes (Gary), Timothy Klose, Alexander Olsiewski (Kelly), Steve Olsiewski, Nicholas Olsiewski, Jon Meers and Zach Meers (Amy). Ed is also survived by ten great grandchildren. In addition to his family, he loved his garden and a well-earned Manhattan.
Funeral Services for Ed will be on Wednesday June 15, 2022 at 10:30AM at the Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Americas 273 Central Avenue Albany. Visitation will be held from 9-10AM prior at the church.
Interment will be on Thursday June 16, 2022 at 11AM with military honors at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville (Please arrive at 10:45AM at the entrance).
