Edward F. McGrath 81 of Schenectady died Wednesday October 12, 2005 at The Avenue Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Boston, MA, Edward worked in the produce department as manager of many area grocery stores including Loblaws and Grand Union before his retirement . A WW II Navy veteran, he was the recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Medal with 2 stars. He was a member of the Rotterdam Elks #2157 and V.F.W. Post #1895 and it's honor guard in Rotterdam. Survivor's include his wife for 39 years Marian (Lewis) McGrath, three children; Phyllis Thompson of Delanson, George Kramer (Patricia) of Delanson and Arthene LaValley of Rotterdam and a dear friend Leigh Kennedy of Rotterdam, Edward was also predeceased by his two brothers; John and James McGrath and his sister Katherine Voke. Funeral services will be held Friday morning October 14, 2005 at 11 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 am prior to the funeral service. Interment with military honors will be in Memory's Garden. Contributions may be made in his memory to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund, 33 Everett Road, Albany, NY.
