Edward S Gilbert

Edward S. Gilbert, 76 of Schenectady and formerly of Kingston passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 17, 2014. Edward was born in Albany; he was the son of J. Archie and Gladys (Spensely) Gilbert. He graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in 1957. He received his associate's degree in Business from SUNY Cobleskill in 1959. He graduated from SUNY Albany with his Bachelor's degree in 1967 and his Master's degree in Education in 1969. Edward retired from Kingston City School District in 1993 after working as a Driver Education teacher and Attendance teacher. He worked during his retirement at UARC in Kingston as a Resident Specialist for 8 years. He enjoyed bowling and was a classic car enthusiast. Edward was an active father and devoted family man. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Beverly A. Kline and daughter Lara V. Gilbert. Edward is survived by his brother Donald Gilbert of Kingston. He is also survived by his four children Christin Chavez of Kingston, R. Thor Williams (Joanna) of Bethel Alaska, Katrina-Joy Nielson (Kenneth) of Rotterdam and Thyra Gilbert (Robert Bates) of Guilderland. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 7:00 at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, with calling hours prior to the service from 4:00 to 7:00. Internment will be Tuesday at 1:00pm at Lawyersville Cemetery, Lawyersville, NY.
