Edward A. Albright Sr.

January 21, 1950 — November 6, 2024

Edward A. Albright Sr., lovingly referred to as Dad, Papa, Grandpa, Poppy Ed and Big Ed, passed away on November 6, 2024.

Son of Stanley and Leona Albright, he was born on January 21, 1950, in Niskayuna, New York. Edward graduated from Colonie Central High School in 1968, and shortly after entered the United States Airforce serving proudly during Vietnam, until 1975. He achieved multiple honorable recognitions for his skill as a mechanic working on FB 111 airplanes and rose to the rank of Sargent. Upon leaving active duty, Edward continued to serve his country by joining the Air Force Reserve, he was stationed in Plattsburg throughout.

Edward married the love of his life Lynda Albright (Jarvais) December 27, 1969, admis the snowstorm of the century as the story is told among family and friends. Ed and Lynda purchased their forever home in Rotterdam in 1978 and celebrated 46 years together. Their home was the gathering place for family, friends and neighbors; the door was always open. The loss of Ed is felt very deeply, he had a quiet grace and wisdom about him as well as a witty humor. He was there for everyone. It was often said, he would “give the shirt off his back” and Ed’s neighbors and friends were grateful to him for the countless times he helped them with mowing the lawn, shoveling snow, and fixing cars, which was his superpower. Because of his genuine kindness, he had many friends who will miss him greatly.

Edward was a lifelong truck driver, his nickname was “Whiskers”. He started his career with American Steel, moving to Edgecomb Steel where he drove for 25 years. Following the close of Edgecomb Steel, Ed worked for Power Pallet in Amsterdam, NY and retired from Carver Companies, where he was treated like family.

Dad loved watching NASCAR racing, his favorite drivers were Bill Elliot and Dale Jarret. He enjoyed watching football with his sons and was a lifelong Giants fan. Many who knew him well, knew he loved the tv character “Alf” and he could mimic the character’s laugh perfectly. Other favorite hobbies included snowmobiling and working on cars. He could always be found under the hood of something that needed fixing.

Ed loved his family with all his heart, he looked forward to family times together and his greatest happiness was seeing his family’s happiness, in time spent together creating lasting memories.

Edward was preceded to heaven by his beloved wife Lynda in 2015. The loss was profound to him as well as the family. He was also predeceased by his father and mother, his sister Patricia Albright, Barbara Agen, and Marion Richards. He is survived by his brother Robert Albright Sr. and his sister Joan Croote (husband Harry) as well as his beloved children, Joseph Jarvais (wife Michelle), Edward Albright Jr., and Daniel Albright and daughter in laws Sue Albright and Jari Anne Albright. He also left behind six cherished grandchildren, Cody Jarvais, Caitlyn Squires (Daniel), Kyle Jarvais, Daniel Albright Jr., Keegan Jarvais, and Camaron Albright and a great granddaughter McKenzie Squires.
