Dr. Anthony P, Mastroianni 68 passed away at home on Thursday evening May 26th surrounded by his family. Born in Schenectady, Anthony was the son of Mary Lazzari Mastroianni of Fayetteville and the late Pasquale Mastroianni. A graduate of Bishop Gibbons High School, Dr. Mastroianni served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Anthony received his bachelor's degree from Columbia University, his medical degree from Albany Medical Center and did his residency at St. Clare's Hospital. Dr. Mastroianni was in private practice for over 35 years in the Schenectady and Rotterdam area before his retirement in 2015 due to illness. A member of the American Academy of Family Practice, Anthony enjoyed thoroughbred racing, fine dining, his wife's cooking and was a loyal Giant's and Yankee fan. He enjoyed life, and especially spending time with his family and dear friends. Beside his father he was also predeceased by his sister, Aurelia Mastroianni Miller and brother, Armond Mastroianni. Anthony is survived by his wife of 26 years Susan (Owens) Mastroianni, his children; Kelly DiGesualdo (John) of Niskayuna, Rebecca Davenport of Niskayuna, Marcellus Mastroianni (Jamie) of East Greenbush and Anthony Vernon Mastroianni of Saratoga, his mother; Mary (Lazzari) Mastroianni of Fayetteville, siblings; Laura Salvatore (Dr. Richard) of Saratoga, Pasquale "Patsy" Mastroianni Jr. (Carmel) of Guilderland, Josepha Abba (Chuck) of Niskayuna and Mary Drescher (Peter) of Fayetteville, NY, his in-laws; William and Michele Owens of Ballston Spa and Barbara and Mike Mayhood of Rotterdam, grandchildren; Sarah, Edward and Maggie Davenport, Sanzio and Pia DiGesualdo and Marcellus and Max Mastroianni, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning June 1,2016 at 10 am at St. Luke's Church, 1241 State Street, Schenectady, NY to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. The visitation will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment with military honors will be at St Cyril's Cemetery in Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Dr. Mastroianni's memory to the Ellis Hospital Foundation, 1101 Nott St. Schenectady, NY 12308 or to the Family Practice Residency Program at Ellis Hospital. Dr. Mastroianni's family wishes to thank Dr. David Schaffer of NYOH at Albany Medical Center, Dr Justin Juliano of NYOH at Clifton Park, Dr Shaheen Rahman and Dr. V. Voleti for the excellent care and friendship during his illness. .
