On October 8, 2023, at 10:20 pm, we said a heartfelt goodbye to Dorothy Anne Wallen, who touched the lives of many in her 87 years of life. Dorothy, a loving widow twice over, shared her life with Roy Emmett Wallen and Richard Edward Coons.
Dorothy's journey began in Schenectady, NY, as the cherished daughter of Albert and Ruth Shepard. She embarked on her educational path at Central Park High School and went on to become a devoted mother, all while maintaining employment at Monsanto in Connecticut, from which she eventually retired. After retiring, she embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Georgia, where she resided for over three decades before returning to New York to be closer to her family.
Dorothy was a remarkable soul, known for her passion for the needle and thread, through which she created countless blankets that brought warmth and comfort to her family. She also had a deep love for games, often engaging in spirited play with her cousin and lifelong friend, Alice Endries, who remained by her side until the very end.
Dorothy's legacy lives on through her surviving son, Robert Allen Coons, and her stepdaughter, Martha Roof. Her loving presence continues to be felt through the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were blessed to have her in their lives. While we remember her with love and fondness, we also pay tribute to her son, Richard Edward Coons Jr., along with her brothers, Robert Yoe and Clifford Moss, who preceded her in passing.
Dorothy Anne Wallen's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and family, and her memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
