Dorothy C Heaney

Dorothy C. Heaney 94 of Kings Road and formerly of Paul Avenue in Rotterdam joined all the saints in heaven and all saints day November 1, 2006 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Charles and Margaret LeGere. The oldest of thirteen children she is predeceased by her sister, Juanita McDonald and five of her brothers, Charles, Richard, Robert, George and Jack LeGere. A graduate of Draper High School and Oneonta Normal School, Dorothy was a teacher for over 30 years at Draper Elementary School before retiring in 1971. A member of Immaculate Conception Church and its Rosary Society, she was devoted to her family and loved gardening, flowers and the Adirondack's. Dorothy was predeceased in 1987 by her beloved husband Edward P. Heaney. Survivor's include her daughters, Juanita M. Smith and her husband Luke of Niskayuna and Sharon M. Bartlett of California, six brothers, Frank LeGere and Donald LeGere both of Rotterdam, Raymond LeGere of Duanesburg, Kenneth LeGere of Ballston Spa, James LeGere and Edward LeGere both of Scotia, Five Grandchildren, Todd Bartlett, Amanda Guzman, Nathan Bartlett, Carlene Donsky and Lindsey Smith, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday morning November 13, 2006 at 9:15am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY followed at 10 am at Immaculate Conception Church, Bradt Street, Schenectady where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 4 to 7 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, NY Contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of N.E. Dorothy's family would like to thank the staff at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home and Community Hospice for the excellent care they have given to Dorothy.
