Dorothy Hawkey

Dorothy Hawkey, 91, of Schenectady passed away Saturday January 11, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen (Gorecka) Carmichael. Dorothy was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and Mildred Ellie Business School. She was a homemaker. Dorothy was a great Mother and Nana. She devoted her entire life to kids. Besides her parents, Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Edwin Hawkey whom she married October 4, 1943, one son James Hawkey and two brothers Robert Carmichael and James Carmichael. She is survived by three daughters Diane Fiano (Victor) of Rotterdam, Carol Fatato (Paul) of Schenectady and Linda Hayes (Edward) of Garland , TX, four sons Richard Hawkey of Garland, TX, David Hawkey of Rotterdam, Kenneth Hawkey (Stephen Briscoe) of North Truro, MA and John Hawkey ( Gina) of Schenectady, also survived by 11 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandsons as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Wednesday 11AM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be Tuesday evening 6-8PM at the funeral home. Internment will be in Parkview Cemetery in Schenectady.
