Dorothy Mae Dukes

Dorothy Mae Dukes 78 of Schenectady died on Thursday evening August 2, 2007 at St Clares Hospital after a long illness, Born in Pineville S.C., Dorothy was the daughter of the late John and Rosalee (Britton) Ravenell. A homemaker, Dorothy had worked as a nurse's aid at the former Cottage Nursing Home in Schenectady for over 10 years. A member of Mt Olivet Baptist Church, she was a member of the church choir, a Missionary Ministry , a member of the Pastor Aid Ministry and attended Sunday School. Dorothy also enjoyed shopping and playing checkers. Dorothy was predeceased in 1985 by her husband Richard Dukes 2nd. She is survived by her 5 children ,Shirley Britton Holman (James Arthur) ,Leola Sykes (Bruce) and Tony A. Dukes(Janice) all of Schenectady, Carlena Dukes Pittman of Statesville, NC and Richard Dukes 3rd of Hudson Falls, 2 brothers, john Ravenell Jr. of NYC and Donald Bennett of Mount Vernon, NY, 3 sisters, Queen Frazier and Sandra McCormick (Wayne) both of Statesville, NC and Gloria Ravenell Singletary (Robert) of NYC, 17 grandchildren, Lawanna, Spencer, Tonette, Tishona, Damion, Najari, Nija, LeQueida, Trenise, Lateesah, Delano, Morgan, Crystal, Cristina, Regina, Richard and Rayshawn, 24 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Friday August 10th, 2007 at 12 noon at Mt Olivet Baptist Church, Strong Street, Schenectady, NY with Rev. Albert J. Holman officiating. Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY and Friday morning at the church from 11 to 12pm prior to the service. Interment in Evergreen Memorial Park. Contributions may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Dialysis center at St. Clares Hospital, 600 McClellan St. Schenectady, NY 12304 or to the Mt Olivet Baptist Church, 809 Strong Street, Schenectady, NY 12307
