Dorothy M. Blessing, 91, of Rotterdam passed away Saturday September 2, 2017, after a short illness at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Henrietta (Kwiatkowski) Kugler. Dorothy as a teenager was employed at the Original Super Market in Schenectady. After graduating from high school, Dorothy completed a nursing course and worked at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady. Later she was employed for ALCO Products for a period of time. Dorothy then moved on and worked in the offices of Carl Co, Wallace's and Barney's department stores. She finished her working career, as a file clerk in the General Electric Co. library. Upon retiring from GE, Dorothy became a caregiver for her entire family. Dottie's life was filled with caring for others. Dottie's love and caring influenced everyone she knew, in ways she never realized. Dottie's legacy will be for others to love the way she loved. Dottie enjoyed cooking for everyone. Dorothy was passionate about traveling cross country in their RV. Dottie was a life member of the Harley's Owner Group (HOG). She was also passionate about riding on the back of her husband's motorcycle, even at age 91! Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband Welton W. Blessing, her beloved son James L. Burk of Altamont and many close friends. Funeral Services for Dorothy will be Thursday September 7, 2017 at 11AM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. A calling hour will be 10-11AM prior to the service. Entombment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park Mausoleum in Rotterdam.
