Doris J Murtagh

Doris J. Murtagh 86, passed away late Thursday evening April 6th at Ellis Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in Rotterdam, Doris was the daughter of the late Earl and Eva (Turns) Collins and a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. As a homemaker and mother, she gave unconditional love and support for her nine children. Doris had also worked for many years in sales for the Carl Company and JoAnn Fabrics in the Schenectady Area. A former member of the Bellevue Reformed Church, Doris found great joy in spending time with her Husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes were camping in the Adirondacks, traveling across the country and abroad, and listening to music of all genres taking every opportunity to dance. Predeceased by her daughter Cynthia, Doris is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Lawrence H. Murtagh who she married January 15,1950, her children; Lawrence E. Murtagh (Margaret) of Rotterdam, Jeffrey S. Murtagh (Rita Jane) of Duanesburg, Susan J. Murtagh (late Larry Washington) of Schenectady, Mark A. Murtagh (Nancy) of Scotia, Michele L. Slowey-Ogert (Marshall) of Eagle Bridge, NY, Michael J. Murtagh (Kathleen) of Glenville, Laurie A. Kownack (William) of Burnt Hills, Daniel P. Murtagh of NYC and Lisa M. Murtagh of Rotterdam along with 18 grandchildren,16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning April 11th at 10 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday evening April 10th from 6 to 8 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
