Doris Ann Garnsey Bishop Ross, 80, longtime resident of Colonie, passed away Tuesday, May 17 with her loving daughters at her side. Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Doris was born March 10, 1936 in Oneonta, NY to Benjamin and Gertrude Garnsey. After raising her 3 daughters here in Colonie, and the loss of her first husband Donald, Doris moved to Louisiana where she married her high school sweetheart Hazen, became part of his family and stepmom to her beloved Billy. This is where she discovered her love of travel, good food, and the ocean/beach. 20 years later, Doris returned to Colonie. She worked at Lisha Kill Middle School for 18 years, until her passing, as supervisor of the copy room where she was lovingly referred to as the "Copy Queen". She also loved being a volunteer bartender at Proctors, the Racino, and dinner with her friends. One of her great joys in life was her annual trip to Wildwood, NJ with her 3 daughters and her favorite niece for some fun and sun. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her two husbands, Donald Bishop and Hazen Ross, her grandson Jeffery, and her sisters Donna and Elaine. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Renee Crisafulli (Phil), Mona-Rae Felker, and Michele Hulbert (Kirk) and her stepson William Ross (Pat). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 4, 2:00-3:00 in the Terrace Garden Mausoleum at Schenectady Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers and in typical Doris fashion, she asked that you do a random act of kindness in her honor.
