Donald M. LeGere, 91, of Colonie passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Savage) LeGere. He was a graduate of Draper High School. Donald served his country in the Air Force during World War II. Donald was employed for over 38 years for the Schenectady Air National Guard as a Chief Senior Master Sergeant acting as a supervisor prior to his retirement. A member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady, Donald had a great passion for fixing things and making old things new again. He also enjoyed going camping with his family, music and playing the organ. Donald was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was also a beloved brother and uncle to all his siblings and their families. He will be greatly missed. He is predeceased by his wife Irene M. Marchewka whom he married June 15, 1946. Donald was also predeceased by several siblings. Donald is survived by his loving children Les J. LeGere of Colonie, Donald M. LeGere (Hanna) of Phoenix, AZ, Peter J. LeGere of Schenectady, Mary Beth Rapp (Robert Jr.) of Schenectady and Lorri Lenz (Rick) of Polson, MT. He is also survived by two loving brothers Edward LeGere of Scotia and James LeGere (Jeanette) of Scotia. Donald is also survived by 8 loving grandchildren Peter LeGere, Kathryn LeGere, DM LeGere, Robert Rapp IIl (Heather), Michael D. Rapp, Brittany Rapp, Colton Lenz and Shawna Lenz and 3 loving great grandchildren Nicolas LeGere, Sophia Fuller and Hailey Rapp as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Donald will be Saturday February 11, 2017 at 10:15 AM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady followed by a Mass at 11 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Church 2777 Albany St. Schenectady. A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home from 9-10:15 AM. The internment with military honors will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Donald's memory to Community Hospice 445 New Karner Road Albany, NY 12205.
