Donald C Countermine

Donald C. Countermine of Pattersonville lost his hard fought and courageous battle with Prostate Cancer on Friday evening October 14th at Joan Nicole Prince Home in Scotia. Born in Schenectady on February 29, 1956, Don was 60 years old. He attended Schalmont Schools and was raised on his grandfathers farm with his siblings, aunts , uncles and cousins. After high school, Don worked various jobs at Coleco, Union College and General Electric. He served with the Army reserve Unit 364 General Hospital based out of Albany and trained as a combat medic. He later attended a practical nursing program where he met and married his wife of 30 years. Don retired from NYS OMRDD where he cared for the Autistic for over 33 years. A huge sports fan, Donald was a diehard fan of the NY Yankees, the Buffalo Bills, Brooklyn Dodgers and also loved Star Trek. Donald is survived by his wife Debra (Esposito) Countermine of Pattersonville, his sons, Donald Countermine (Donna) of Colonie, Justin Countermine of Pattersonville, his step-daughter Valerie Parkis of Cobleskill, his step-son Richard Parkis (Misty) of Pattersonville and the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Matthew, Alex, Lily, Andrew, Mackenzie, Daniel, Patrick and Alyzabeth. Donald is also survived by his mother Mrs. Claudette Smith of Schenectady, a brother, Jesse Countermine (Sarah) and a sister Sheila McGee (Robert) both of Schenectady and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Tuesday evening at 5 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY. A visitation will follow the service from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the funeral home. The family would like to Hospice of Schenectady team for their care and kindness, the Joan Nicole Prince Home and a special thanks to Dr. Dolinski who was a great advocate for Don.
