Donald W. Corfield 81 of Rotterdam died Tuesday afternoon December 26, 2006 at Ellis Hospital after a short illness. Born in Providence, R.I., Donald was the son of the late Charles and Florence (Winslow) Corfield. A Navy veteran, Donald served on the U.S. Yosemite during WW II. He worked for the General Electric Company for over 35 years, retiring as a Design Draftsman in Large Steam Turbine in 1986. Donald was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church-Friedens United Church of Christ in Schenectady, the G.E. ? century club, the Get-together Mixed Bowling League, the Masonic Lodge #1174 and the Yosemite Association. He was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, enjoyed bowling and golf and was a devoted Boston Red Sox's fan. Donald is survived by his loving wife Dorothy C. (Benson) Corfield who he married October 14, 1950, two daughters, Elaine C. Thorpe and her husband John of Warwick, R.I. and Janice M. Fiore and her husband Paul of Rotterdam, a granddaughter, Rebecca J. Thorpe, a sister, Edna L. Totten of Cranston ,R.I. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning December 30, 2006 at 10 am at Emmanuel Baptist Church-Friedens United Church of Christ, 218 Nott Terrace, Schenectady, NY. Calling hours will be held at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY on Friday evening from 5 to 7 pm. Interment in Schenectady Memorial Park. Contributions may be made in Donald's memory to the Ellis Hospital Stroke Center, 1101 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY, 12308
