Diane E. King, 68, of Rotterdam, NY, passed away after a sudden illness on Thursday, February 9th at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Schenectady, Diane was the daughter of the late James F. and Geraldine Fancher Kennedy. A graduate of Mohonasen High School in Rotterdam, she is survived by her sweetheart of 49 years, Richard W. King, who she met during their senior year while he was at Draper High School. Diane is also survived by her two sons, Brian R. King and his wife Dabrina Dutcher of Lewisburg, PA, and Barry K. King and his wife Heather of McMurray, PA, as well as three grandchildren Dylan Dutcher-King, Emily King and Ethan King. Diane, who was known by her friends and family as "Dee," was a devoted woman of faith who endeavored to show the love of God to everyone who crossed her path. A compassionate woman, Dee will be remembered for her loving spirit and boundless empathy. She was a woman who appreciated and enjoyed simple things in life. The presence of her children and grandchildren was more important to her than any material good. She found great joy in being a homemaker, where she worked with her husband to raise their children in a home filled with love and joy. Those who visited her over the years knew of her appreciation of art and landscaping. Her wood carvings and paintings still adorn her home to this day. Diane is also survived by three sisters, Sylvia Heiner (Paul), Cynthia Cheney, and Ramona Carson (Russell), who are all residing in Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning February 14th at 11 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 am prior to the funeral services. Interment will be at St Cyril's cemetery in Rotterdam, NY following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, we believe that Dee would prefer that you spend your money doing something joyful with your family. You can also make contributions in Diane's memory to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Ln, Latham, NY 12110, or to a charity of your choice.
