Derrick M Lucas

Derrick M. Lucas,46, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday June 24th in Lake George Village, NY.

Born in Palm Beach Florida, Derrick was the son of Shirleen Lucas of Schenectady and the late Edward W. Stone. Derrick grew up in Schenectady NY, settling in the Village of Scotia NY.

A Union Welder and Forklift Operator for Adirondack Beverage in Scotia for many years, Derrick was a member of the Teamsters Local Union No. 294.

Derrick attended Schenectady HS, received his GED, and attended classes at Schenectady Community College. Derrick enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was an avid reader. When not working, he was learning website site development, and learning how to code. Derrick loved economics, great conversations, was a hard worker, and worked tirelessly to improve the life of those closest to him.

Beside his mother Shirleen, Derrick is survived by his wife Laura (Bass) Lucas of Albany, his daughter Tsayana Lucas of Albany, his sisters Dominique Lucas, Darcelle Lucas and Devan Diabate. He was a loving uncle to his niece Amaria Lucas and nephew James Mayweather II.

He is predeceased by his aunts Myra Young and Carlese Burnett of Tampa FL, Janice Pursley and Michelle Lucas of Ocala FL, Bernadine Byrd of Newark, NJ, and Yolanda Lucas of Fayetteville NC. He also precedes his uncle Michael Lucas of St. Petersburg FL, and an abundance of cousins and friends.

He was a son of God and a blessing to his friends and family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched.

A celebration of Derrick’s life will be held on Saturday July 8th at 2 pm at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. a visitation will precede the service from 12 to 2 pm.

A repass will follow the services at Beukendaal Temple Association; Schonowee Ave, Scotia, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend.
