David G Slezak

June 29, 1959 — November 4, 2019

David G. Slezak, 60, passed away on Monday, November 4th at his home in Princetown.

Born in Schenectady, Dave was the son of the late Raymond and Margaret (Komp) Slezak. A graduate of Schalmont High School, Dave received his associates degree from Hudson Valley Community College. He worked as a Senior Engineering Technician at Mohawk Innovative Technology Inc. for over 23 years.

Dave is survived by his daughters; Alyssa Altschul (Zach) of Rotterdam, and Kara Hodecker (Eric) of Melrose, MA., his beloved granddaughters; Rilynn and Averie Hodecker, his brother; Lawrence Slezak (Judith) of Cummington, MA, two sisters; Kathryn Smith (Dan) of Princetown and Marilyn Petro (Mark) of Charlotte, NC, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Dave was a loving father and grandfather (affectionately known as "Papa BB"), and a loyal friend.

Dave was passionate about all things outdoors. He spent much of his time hiking and camping in the Adirondacks, hitting the slopes in Vermont, and capturing stunning nature scenes through the lens of his camera. He was also a talented woodworker, having built canoes and a beautiful cradle for his granddaughters. Dave loved sports, and was a lifelong fan of the NY Yankees and the NY Giants.

A celebration of Dave's life will be held on Saturday, November 9th from 10 to 12 noon at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and encouraged to attend.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Open Space Institute in Dave's honor. The Open Space Institute protects scenic, natural and historic landscapes to provide public enjoyment, conserve habitat and working lands, and sustain communities.
