David E. Hine, born on September 4, 1954, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, went home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2026. In the days prior to his passing, he was surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved son of the late Dorothy and Nelson Hine and the youngest of three children.He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Hallenbeck (Stephen) and Rebecca Hine (fiancé, Troy). He also held a special place in his heart as a father figure to Shaun Hine (Alaura).He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: his beloved granddaughter Reagan, daughter of Sandra and Stephen; Larry, son of Rebecca, with whom he shared a special bond, serving as a constant source of guidance, support, and love throughout his life; and Kaylee, Lilyann, and Zayla, children of Shaun and Alaura.He is survived by his brother, Jeffrey Hine (Wavelyn), and their children, Jason, Rachel, Leah, and Bethany; and his sister, Linda Engle, and her children, Sarah and Brandon. Her husband, Bill Engle, preceded him in death.He was predeceased by his beloved dog, Wasley, who held a special place in his heart.

David was a graduate of Niskayuna High School, Class of 1972. He was a man of deep faith and a dedicated member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he shared his love of music through the choir and often blessed others with his solo performances. His passion for music was evident from a young age; while in high school, he earned the distinguished honor of being selected for a national choir, with only one student chosen from each state—a testament to his remarkable voice and talent.Music remained a lifelong love. He played the guitar nearly every day and was a member of a rock band in his earlier years, sharing his talent and passion for music with others throughout his life.In January 1986, he opened Karate Express on State Street in downtown Schenectady, reflecting his deep love for martial arts. He practiced many forms throughout his life and found joy in both the discipline and community it brought.He also enjoyed playing pool and was a member of a team at the Union Inn, where he spent time with friends and made many lasting memories. His team proudly earned the title of APA Pool League of New York Division Champions in 2007.He will be remembered for his kindness, his great sense of humor, his devotion to family, and his unwavering faith. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.

A visitation will be held on May 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12306.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society
