Darlene Julia Pittman, a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother, passed away on October 7, 2023, at the age of 70. Born on February 4, 1953, in Schenectady, NY, she was a lifelong resident of the same city. She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and dedicated her life to caring for others as a home health care aide.
Darlene is survived by her daughter Tamara Kittrell (James) and son Jaymar Dorsey (Robyn), as well as her six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters Rose Gibson, Cynthia Carter, and Jean Pittman, as well as her brothers Odell Pittman Jr., Roger Pittman Sr. (Rhonda), Jesse Pittman Sr., Jan Pittman, and Darryl Pittman Sr. (Vickey), brother-in-law Thomas Polak and sister-in-law Sheila Herring (Pittman). Her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as close friends and clients, will cherish her memory.
A faithful member of Mt. Olivet Missionary Baptist Church, Darlene drew strength from her faith throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents Odell Pittman Sr. and Mary (Watkins) Pittman, her brothers James Pittman, William Pittman, and Earl Pittman, and her sisters Deborah Pittman, Jane Isaac, and Theresa Polak, and sister-in-law Joyce Pittman.
Darlene's loving nature, dedication to helping others, and strong sense of community will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and love that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14th, 2023, from 10:00-12:00, with a repass to follow from 12pm-2pm, at Mt Olivet Missionary Baptist Church 1068 Park Ave, Schenectady.
Arrangements are by the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady.
