Daniel J Smeaton

Daniel J. Smeaton, 79, of Rotterdam passed away on Thursday June 16, 2016 at the Capstone Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in the Town of Amsterdam. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Albert and Florabelle (Warner) Smeaton. Daniel was employed for 40 years as a mechanic for Sears department store. He was a great family man. Daniel loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed going to every one of the grandchildren's sporting events. Daniel loved hunting and fishing. He also loved his dog Maggie. He is predeceased by one grandchild. Daniel is survived by his loving wife Annette (DiJohn) Smeaton whom he married January 4, 1975, three daughters Robbin Smeaton of Delanson, Kelly Dutcher (James) of Rotterdam and Tracy Roth (John) of Guilderland, three sons Daniel J. Smeaton II (JoAnn) of Delanson, Todd C. Smeaton (Karen) of Middleburgh and Charles J. Smeaton (Kim) of Guilderland, also survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren including one that will be born in October.. As per Daniel's request private services will be held. Contributions can be made in Daniel's memory to the American Diabetes Association 2 Pine West Plaza Albany, NY 12205. Arrangements are by the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady.
