Daniel F. Callahan

Daniel F. Callahan, 81, of Schenectady passed away on Tuesday October 14, 2025 at Kingsway Manor Assisted Living surrounded by his loving family. Born in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late Francis and Mary (Cardany) Callahan.

He proudly served his country in the Army. He later was a member of VFW Post 357 and the American Legion Post 9 in Mechanicville.

Daniel was employed in crane repair service for the General Electric Company. He was also a member of the Eagles 514.

He loved sports, especially pool, baseball, football, and bowling. For him, Sunday is football day! In high school, Daniel also ran track.

Daniel was the best Dad ever! He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather.

The family would like to thank Hospice and Theresa P., Holly, Sandy, Melanie, Amy, and the rest of the Kingsway staff.

Daniel is predeceased by one daughter Joanne Olds.

He is survived by his loving wife Joanne (Putnam) Callahan, his children-Rhonda Witbeck (William), David Callahan (Rachele) Crystal Schmid (Gene) and Sandy Callahan. His siblings-Theresa Enos (Late Michael). Jean Morelli (Ike), Patricia Krug (Late Dennis), John Callahan (Esther). Denise McCauliffe (Late Dennis), Kathleen Bullis (Roger), Michael Callahan (Priscilla), Carol Gaudette (Robert) and Paul Callahan (Bonnie). His grandchildren- Lauren, Danielle, Amanda. Ryan, Quinn, Nicholas, Chad, and Jesse as well as three great grandchildren- Jeremy, Phoenix and Gabriel and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Daniel will be Monday at 12 noon at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Visitation will be from 10-12 prior to the service.

Interment with military honors at Parkview Cemetery in Schenectady
