Cordula Ursula Dominic Dandaraw

April 7, 1969 — February 2, 2017

It looks like I have come to the end of the road and have started my new adventure. I was born in Germany on 4/7/1969 and passed on 2/2/2017. I graduated with a BA in 1991, a MA in 1993 and my PhD in 1999. All degrees were from the University at Albany. After a progressive career in finance, I found my home as a Standards Manager for NYL in 2011. I am survived by my parents, Roswitha and Walter Kilb, my brother, Christoph Kilb and my godson Felix in Germany, my children Stephanie Dandaraw (TJ Chase), and Bryan Dandaraw, my grandchildren Lily and Cullen Chase, my second set of parents, Edward B and Nusia Dandaraw as well as my ex husband, and a large network of extended family and friends. During my visit on Earth, I have had many blessings and few regrets. As proud as I am of my academic and professional accomplishments, raising my children to become the wonderful adults that they are today has been the greatest privilege of my life. I loved the Arts and music and studied classical guitar for 17 years. My entire life I was happiest when I could be outdoors. Thanks to my parents, who showed me magnificent places, I continued my desire to seek out beautiful, rugged and remote places. I grew up traveling, sailing and building forts in the woods with my brother. Later on, I continued to sail, hike, and kayak. I very much enjoyed all the road trips with my children, and am grateful I was able to instill my love for the world and nature in them. I was a proud 46er (#8156), although I would be quickly to point out that the water always was and always will be my first love. Over the last few years, I have kayaked some incredible bodies of water, including the Saguenay Fjord, The Bay of Fundy, South Padre Island and the beautiful Monterey Bay. Two highlights of my hiking adventures were hiking the Grand Canyon top to bottom and back, and standing on top of Angels Landing in Zion. A personal goal of mine was to complete a Triathlon. I was thrilled to complete three in 2016. My bucket list is about 85% complete. Since I was a child, I have had a great love for animals and have rescued, adopted, fostered and rehabilitated cats and dogs most of my life. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in my name, or pay it forward with a random act of kindness. If something comes to mind, please write down and bring a story about me to my Memorial. There is no need to stay away from funny things you have encountered. My family would never believe that I was serious all the time. Also, feel free to bring pictures. My Memorial will be held on Friday February 10, 2017 from 5-8PM at Scotia United Methodist Church. 201 North Broeck Street, Scotia, NY 12302. There will be no funeral, since my ashes will be scattered at some of my favorite places in the world over the next few years.
