Clifton E. McDuffee, 82, of Rotterdam passed on December 25th, 2015 surrounded by his loving family in his son's home. Clifton was born September 20th, 1933 in Duanesburg to Ernest and Mary McDuffee. He graduated from Duanesburg High School in 1951. Clif married the love of his life, Patricia Sterling, on January 27th, 1957. Together, he and his wife co-owned and operated the Fishhook Dock Campground at the Great Sacandaga Lake, where they had a summer home and spent many wonderful years. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years Patricia, son Donald L. McDuffee of Princetown, and daughter Sandra M. McDuffee of Rotterdam. He is also survived by his grandchildren Alysia and Sarah Hladik and Sean McDuffee, who were the light of his life. He also leaves his cousins Lorraine Blohm and Ann Warner. Clifton proudly served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Europe from 1953-1955. For 30 years, Clif worked as a dedicated employee for E.F. Hauserman Company, in which he advanced to the position of field installation superintendent. He was later employed by Northeast Interior Systems, until retiring in 1994. Along with his career, Clif was once a Charter member of the Rotterdam Elks, a member of the Rotterdam Eagles, and a member of the Carpenters' Local Union 146/370 since 1952. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, and especially attending the Daytona 500 with family and friends as well as his annual fall trips to Maine with his wife. Clif worked diligently at the campground, but always enjoyed boating, skiing, and sitting around the fire with his entire family. Without fail, he was always at his children and grandchildren's sporting events, dance recitals, concerts, and spent time coaching his son's Little League and Babe Ruth teams. He was our family's "Mr. Fix-it" and he never failed us. As he said, he had 80 great years, filled with lots of love and laughter. A visitation will be held Wednesday morning, December 30 from 9:30-10:45am at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave., Schenectady. Prayer services will follow at 10:45am at the funeral home. At 11:30am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Rd, Schenectady, NY 12303. Interment will take place at Schenectady Memorial Park, Rotterdam. Donations in Clifton's memory can be made to the City Mission of Schenectady, 425 Hamilton St, Schenectady, NY 12305.
