Charline H Smith

Charline H. Smith, 83, of Rotterdam died Saturday April 19, 2008 at Baptist Retirement and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia after a short illness. Born in Sherburne, NY, she was the daughter of the late Don and Estella (Pickens) Hazen. Charline was employed as an Administrative Assistant at theGE R & D in Niskayuna until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the Bellevue Reformed Church in Schenectady, Charline volunteered on various committees, Women's Groups and supported the youth at Bellevue Reformed Church, Calvary Baptist Church and Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Baptist Retirement and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia. Charline enjoyed Camping and her years in Florida. She is predeceased by her husband Reverend Gordon Smith whom she married July 21, 1945 and one brother Wayne Hazen. Charline is survived by her son Mark H. Smith of Rotterdam, one sister Viola Hunt of Scotia, two grandchildren-Marc Smith and Sean Smith as well as several nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held Wednesday evening 6PM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Inurnment will be in Vale Cemetery in Schenectady.
