Charles L. Swatling 93 formerly of Oakdawn Avenue, Rotterdam died Saturday morning June 3, 2006 at Columbia Memorial Hospital. Born and educated in Schenectady, he was the son of the late john and Edna (Clute) Swatling. Charles worked for Niagara Mohawk for over 38 years, retiring in the late 1970's as a traveling operator. He was a member of the Rotterdam United Methodist Church, a member and Past Fire Chief of the Rotterdam District #2 Fire Company, a Past President of the Hudson Mohawk Fireman's Association, a member of Schenectady Lodge # 1174 F &AM, Scottish Rite, the Oriental Shrine, Past President of the Fisher Cemetery Association, the N.R.A., a former member of the board of directors of the Rotterdam Boys and Girls Club, a member and former President of the Blue Vests, a past Noble Grand of Boer Lodge of the I.O.O.F., the I. B. E. W. and a former member of the Delmar Fish and Game Club. Charles was predeceased in 1992 by his wife of 55 years Frances (Bailey) Swatling. He is survived by his son, Charles f. Swatling and wife Janice of Northville, two grandchildren, Pamela Mormando and husband Nick of Gloversville and C. Eric Swatling of Guilderland, three great Grandchildren, Nicholas, Lucas and Emily Mormando and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning June 7, 2006 at 11 at the Rotterdam United Methodist Church, Helderberg Ave, Schenectady, NY. Calling hours will be held at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY Tuesday evening June 6, 2006 from 6 to 8 pm. Interment in Fisher Cemetery, Rotterdam, NY Contributions may be made in Charles memory to the Rotterdam District #2 fire company, Curry road, Rotterdam, NY 12306
