Cecilia M. Heydrick

Cecilia (Cindy) Heydrick, 62, of Schenectady passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday, March 3, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of John and Diane (Bruzdzinski) Rourke.

Cindy grew up in Schenectady with three younger brothers and many close aunts, uncles, and cousins. As a teenager, Cindy began working at Carl Company as an elevator operator and eventually became a systems manager. After taking some time to raise her two children, she went back to work as an administrative assistant for the Schenectady City School District for over 20 years until her retirement in 2019

Cindy is survived by her parents, her loving husband Terry, her daughter Aubree, her son TJ, her three brothers William (Sabrina) Rourke, Joseph (Rachel) Rourke, and John Rourke, her cousin Kathy (Frank) DeLeo, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Cindy loved the holidays, camping, spending time with family, listening to music, and being a mom. She was a selfless and devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister, and she will be missed greatly.

Throughout her illness, Cindy never wavered in her strength and determination. Her participation in clinical trial research at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston helped to contribute to the development of new cancer treatments. She always hoped that she could help fellow patients from her experience.

Her family would like to extend their deepest thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Ellis Hospital, New York Oncology Hematology, and Mass General for their compassion and care over the years.

Funeral services for Cecilia will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 6pm at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Avenue in Schenectady. A visitation will be held from 4-6pm prior at the funeral home.
