Catherine E Degenero (Askew)

Catherine E. DeGenero, 57, passed away Wednesday evening December 20, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Schenectady, Catherine was the daughter of Richard Askew of Rotterdam and the late Pearl (Hebert) Askew. A graduate of Guilderland High School in 1978, Catherine worked for New York State Department of Tax and Finance as a computer specialist for over 30 years prior to her retirement in 2009. A member of St Madeleine Sophie Church, Catherine had also attended St John the Evangelist Church and Our Lady Queen of Peace. Devoted to her family, Catherine is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years Michael T. DeGenero who she married December 11, 1982, her children; Michael A. Degenero (Shannon Cook) of Rotterdam and Danielle Nicole DeGenero of Rotterdam, her granddaughter; Lily Catherine Clark, her father; Richard Askew of Rotterdam, her sisters; Linda M. Moran (John) of Malta and Christina M.Volans(Charles) of Princetown and her nieces and nephews; Chantal Volans, Carley Volans,Cayla Agresta(Nikko), Chrissy Volans,Chuckie Volans, John R. Moran and Katie Dobies (Ron). Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 26th at 9:15 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY followed at 10 am at St Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Road, Schenectady, NY 12303 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will follow in Schenectady Memorial Park.
