Casper H Bonk

Casper H. Bonk, 93, of Rotterdam passed away peacefully at home on Friday March 11, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Rotterdam, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ida (Schmuckmeier) Bonk. He was a graduate of Draper High School and attended Union College in Schenectady. Casper served his country in the US Army in World War II and later worked for the federal government at the Watervliet Arsenal as a Tool Die and Gauge maker for over 33 years. Casper was the recipient of several manufacturing awards from the Watervliet Arsenal. A man know for his very conservative values, he was an avid golfer, golf club maker and member of several golf leagues over the years and a outstanding auto mechanic. Beside his parents, Casper was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Joseph and sisters Margaret Boink and Ida LaGrange. Casper is survived by his beloved wife of more than 70 years Freda (Newberry) Bonk who he met while roller-skating, his children; Mark H. Bonk of Schenectady, Cassie M. Rakvica of Schenectady, Clifford D. Bonk (Colleen) of Mesa, AZ, John R. Bonk (Robin ) of Fountain ,CO, Mary H Micheli (Stephen) of Schenectady, Raymond M. Bonk (Cindy) of Schenectady and Richard M. Bonk (Pam) of Schenectady, a brother; Laurence Bonk of Schenectady, a sister; Viola Gugliuzza of Scotia,15 grandchildren,15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 16, 2016 at 12 noon at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10 to 12 prior to the funeral service. Interment with military honors will be in St Cyril's Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Casper's memory to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
