Carolyn 'Carol' Jennings

September 22, 1917 — September 13, 2015

ROTTERDAM - Carolyn (Carol) Jennings, a 65 year resident of Plunkett Ave., passed away September 13, 2015 just nine days shy of her 98th birthday. Born in Amsterdam on Sept. 22, 1917 to Mabel Johnson and Horace McCormick Walter, she grew up on the family "farm" with her sisters Betty and Jane and brother Bud. The residence was the former General Carpentier's 32 room mansion on Mechanic St. in Galway, NY. She attended Galway Schools. On December 19, 1941 she married Sidney W. Jennings. She was predeceased by her parents as well as her brother Horace McCormick Walter, Jr. ("Bud") of Broadalbin in 1957; her sister Anna Elizabeth Crandall ("Betty") of Hagaman in 1995; her sister Jane Jameson of West Shokan in 1998 and her husband Sidney in 1995. Like many other mothers of her generation, she was a stay at home Mom. However, in 1965 she decided to attend nursing school in Amsterdam to become a LPN. She worked the third shift for 18 years in the Pediatric Ward of Ellis Hospital. It was her great-grandchildren's greatest wish for her to reach 100 in order to be featured on the Smucker's Jar. She didn't make it, but she certainly gave it a good try. She was an amazingly strong lady with an unending love for her family. She is survived by her daughter Linda Fuller and her husband David of Rotterdam; son Robert Jennings of Macon, GA; grandchildren Jeffrey Fuller & his wife Debra of Schodack, NY; Daniel Fuller and his wife Christine of Blauvelt, NY; Tammy Jennings Westberry and her husband Jeremy of Tifton, GA. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Allison Fuller Wohl and her husband Mitchell of Rotterdam, NY; Emily Fuller and Matthew Fuller of Schodack, NY; Kyle Fuller and Katelyn Fuller of Blauvelt, NY; William Jeffords and Maddox Westberry of Tifton, GA; Justin Roberts of Macon, GA and special nieces and nephews, Barbara Crandall Muscato and Nancy Crandall Muscato of Hagaman; Donald Crandall of Wasilla, AK; Lynn Walter Naioti of Scotia; John Jameson III of Wilmington, NC and Paul Jameson of Hilton Head, SC. Services will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 2pm at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave., Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 12-2pm prior to the service. Interment will be at Viewland Cemetery, Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's name can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
