Caroline J. Charon 65, passed away Saturday evening September 2nd at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. Born in Niskayuna, NY, Caroline was the daughter of John Pieniazek of Altamont and the late Doris VanBuren formerly of Colonie and a graduate of Guilderland High School. The former owner of C & J Variety for many years, Caroline had also been employed at Ellis Hospital and was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #7062 in Altamont. Predeceased in 2010 by her husband of 37 years Joseph "Jeff" Charon who she married on August 31, 1973. Caroline is survived by her children; Jonathan L. Charon(Stephanie Ayotte) of Amsterdam, Geoffrey M. Charon of Guilderland and Maryann Moses (Eric) of Esperance, her grandchildren; Cynthia Leonard, Kevin Charon and Christopher Moses. Caroline is also survived by 11 siblings, John Pieniazek, Jean Monaco, Kathy Baker, Rosemarie Loucks, Linda Monaco, William Pieniazek, James Pieniazek, Jodie Pieniazek,Lawrence Pieniazek,Genevieve Mc InTyre and Michael Pieniazek and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A celebration of Caroline's life will be held on Friday morning September 8th at 11 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A gathering will be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 am prior to her service. Inurnment will be in Vale Cemetery with her husband Joseph. The family would like to invite relatives and friends to VFW Post 7062 at 11 Mill Street, in Altamont, NY following the committal service at the cemetery for refreshments and fellowship.
