Carol E. Shepard 82 died on Thursday August 18th at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, CT.
Born in Schenectady, NY Carol was the daughter of the late Robert and Evelyn (Pickard)Barrett and a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, the University of Rochester and Pace University where she received her RN and MSN in Nursing.
Carol and Charles moved to Waldwick in 1968. In order to be closer to their son David they moved from Waldwick in late 2020 so he could better help provide for them. Carol served for some number of terms on the Waldwick Board of Education and on the Borough Council. She worked as the town nurse until her health concerns forced her retirement in,2019. You know what she did as town nurse, but she always particularly liked being able to stay connected to town seniors and working the baby clinic.
She was predeceased by her son, Michael Shepard in 1977 and a sister Roberta Brown. Carol is survived by her husband of 61 years, Chuck Shepard a son David Shepard and her three grandchildren, Brendan Shepard, Brooke Shepard and Christian Shepard.
Carol had a close nit group of friends she met most weekends over at Matthew's Diner (Bill, Buddy and Frank) She was a little lady who made a big impact in a little town, and she stayed for over 50 years because she didn't really want to be anywhere else, doing anything else, for anyone else.
Services will be held for Carol on Wednesday August 24th at 1 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 to 1 pm prior to her funeral service.
