Carmel Spanbauer

Carmel E. Spanbauer, 92, of Rotterdam passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday June 14, 2026. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Eileen (Sullivan) Buehler.

She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. Carmel was employed as an operator for the New York Telephone Company.

Carmel was a member of St. Gabriel’s Church in Rotterdam. She was a member of the faith and spiritual group at the church. Carmel was also passionate about skiing and camping.

Besides her parents she is predeceased by her husband Joseph Spanbauer and six siblings.

Carmel is survived by her children Maureen Kearney (Raymond), Karen Pierone (Rick) and Daniel Spanbauer (Laura) as well as 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass to celebrate Carmel’s life will be on Friday June 19, 2026 at 10:30AM at St. Gabriel’s Church 3040 Hamburg Street Rotterdam. A Reception will follow at Palazzo Ristorante..

Interment will be Monday June 22, 2026 at 12 noon at Saratoga National Cemetery.
