Brian M Kenney

Brian M. Kenney, 60, passed away peacefully, Friday, August 7th, at Ellis Hospital. Born September 14th 1954, in Staten Island, NY, he was the son of the late Marie and Eugene Kenney. Brian graduated from Monsignor Farrell High School in 1972, where he was an all-star offensive guard for the foot ball team. Brian graduated from Siena College with a Bachelor's degree in social work, and went on to complete his Master's degree at Saint Rose in special education. Brian began his career in Albany, at Parson's Child and Family Center, where he taught special education for 4 years. Brian went on to teach with Capital Region Boces for the next 30 years, until his retirement in June for 2013. Brian was a proud and devoted husband and father, having never missed a baseball, soccer, or volleyball game. He was an avid golfer and participated in many leagues including Stoney's Irish Grill and the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, in Schenectady, NY. Brian also enjoyed playing guitar, often making appearances at Stoney's Irish Grill. Brian always used to say, "Music is my life". He was predeceased by his mother, Marie Kenney; father, Eugene Kenney, and nephew Stephen Kenney. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Stone of Glenville; son Sean Kenney, also of Glenville; Daughter Jillian Pritchett (Bonitatibus) and her husband Brian Pritchett of East Tawas, MI; brother Bob Kenney and his wife, Kathy of Marietta, GA; brother Kevin Kenney and his wife, Shelly of Rhinebeck, NY; sister Maureen Kenney of Port Ewen, NY, sister and brother-in-law June Stone and Carmen Ranalli of Schenectady and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday afternoon, August 11th at 5:00 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A gathering will be held at the funeral home from 2:00- 5:00 pm prior to the memorial service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Because of Brian's love of golf, the family would prefer golf attire be worn if possible. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Ellis Hospital ICU staff as well as their dialysis team. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brian's memory to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12302.
