Betty Jane Whelan

Betty Jane Whelan, 82, of Burnt Hills, died Saturday July 25, 2009 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home in Schenectady. Born in Ballston Lake, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Helen (Kinum) McMillian. She was a graduate of Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School. Betty Jane was employed for the General Electric Company in Schenectady in Turbine Building 285, retiring in 1977 as a Secretary. She loved Golf and was a member of the Whispering Pines Golf Club. Betty Jane was devoted to her family which she thought was very important. She was singularly kind. Betty Jane was always looking for the good in people. She is predeceased by her two husbands Richard Mason and Charles Whelan. Betty Jane is survived by two sons Richard W. Mason Sr. (Virginia) of Schenectady and Michael Mason of Westchester, NY, one daughter Kathleen Waters ( Thomas) of Burnt Hills, also survived by 10 Grandchildren-David, Pamela, Richard Jr., Timothy, Michael, Jennifer, Stephanie, Samantha, Molly and Kelly as well as 9 Great Grandchildren. Funeral Services will be Friday 11AM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. A Calling Hour will be Friday 10-11AM at the funeral home.
