Betty J. Fowler 83 of Schenectady died Saturday afternoon at home after a short illness. Born in Glenville, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Mabel (Vedder) Groves and a graduate of Scotia High School. Betty was the owner of the former Sunrise Market in Rotterdam and a former crossing guard for the Schenectady Police Department. For over 25 years Betty worked for OTB as a phone operator before retiring. She was also a member of the Bellevue Reformed Church. Betty was predeceased in 1996 by her husband Robert G. Fowler, a son Richard Harris, a sister Helen Lehman and daughter-in-law Nancy Harris. Survivors include three children, Charles Fowler (Joyce) of Duanesburg, Terri Manchester of Altamont and John Harris of Schenectady, nine grandchildren, Dennine Applebaum, Jeremiah Fowler, Brian Harris, Kyle Harris, Stephanie Harris, Sharon Kelly, Jessica Manchester, Jason Mitchell and Zachary Mitchell and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon June 1, 2006 at 1 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home Wednesday evening May 31, 2006 form 6 to 8 pm .Interment in Park cemetery, Scotia.
