Betty E. Van Dyke, 92, of Rotterdam passed away peacefully at the Glendale Home on Sunday June 18, 2017. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late James and Anna (Krug) Babbitt. She was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady. Betty was employed for 15 years in the office for the General Electric Company prior to becoming a home maker and raising a family. In her younger years, she enjoyed fishing, bowling and horseback riding. Betty also enjoyed reading and going out to dinner with family and friends. Betty would like people to remember her for having a deep love for family and church. She was a member of the former Mont Pleasant Reformed Church and the 2nd Reformed Church of Rotterdam. At the church, she was a member of the women's group and prayer chain. Betty enjoyed being with people and loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. She is predeceased by her husband Richard W. Van Dyke whom she married April 19, 1947, one sister Marge De Stefano (Late George) and her best friend Lee Houghton. Betty is survived by her loving daughter Donna Palmer (James) of Glenville and one loving grandchild Christopher Palmer (Stephanie) of Altamont, one niece Linda De Stefano (Richard Weiskopf) of Syracuse and one honorary daughter Patricia Kelly Kowalczyk of Atlanta, GA.and several cousins. Funeral Services for Betty will be 1PM Thursday at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. A calling hour will be 11:30AM-1PM prior to the service. Interment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Betty's memory to the charity of one's choice.
