Bernice "Bonnie" V. Avery, 86, of Duanesburg Road, Rotterdam died Monday March 12, 2007 at home. Bonnie was born in Rotterdam and was the daughter of James and Emma (Jackson) Evans. She graduated from Draper High School. Bonnie was employed for 26 years in the Transportation Department of the Schalmont School District. For 24 of those years she was a Bus Driver and was the first female driver for the district and never had an accident in her driving career. Bonnie was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Rotterdam. She was involved in all the Church Dinners, did Flower Arranging during the summers at the church, organized the Church Rummage Sales for many years and will be remembered for her breads and apple pies. Bonnie was a former Softball Player with the New York State Traveling Team. She was active in Basketball and Bowling Leagues in the area. Bonnie enjoyed many summers at Pine Lake in the Adirondacks and loved gardening. She enjoyed her in-laws, nieces and nephews and cousins. Survivors include her husband Earl H. Avery whom she married September 9, 1947, two sons Gary E. Avery and Kurt E. Avery (Barbara), one daughter Gail J. Hanna ( Robert), also survived by 5 Grandchildren-Brian Avery, Travis Avery, Gwen Avery, Beth Avery and Sean Hanna. Funeral Services will be Friday 10AM at the Trinity Reformed Church 705 Curry Road in Rotterdam. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be Thursday evening 6-8pm at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Internment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam.
