Barbara J. Perkett,84. of Schenectady passed away on Friday October 12, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Vancour and Mary (Beran) Latrielle. She was a graduate of Herkimer High School. She was passionate about crafting and was self-employed at her trade. Barbara was a member of the Crafters Guild. She made in her lifetime over 1000 crocheted hats for needy children in the area. Barb was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was considered everybody's mom. Barb also provided endless hours of volunteer work to help others. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors and staff at St. Peters Hospital and Our Lady of Mercy Life Center for their excellent care of mom. She is predeceased by her loving husband Reuben P. Perkett whom she married May 5, 1957 and one brother Kenneth "Brother" Vancour. Barbara is survived by two loving daughters Kimberly LaMora of Rotterdam and Bonnie M. Barner (Brian) of Scotia, two loving sons Robin A. Perkett (Rosemarie) of Schenectady and Bradley J. Perkett of Eden, NY. She is also survived by 8 loving grandchildren-Jason Perkett (Kayla), Angela Perkett, Christopher Barner (Jamie), Katie Barner (Jeffery), Samantha Kaniewski, Charlize Perkett, Felicia Naze (Derrick) and Jeffrey LaFountain. Barbara also has 10 loving great grandchildren. Funeral Services for Barbara will be Wednesday October 17, 2018 at 8:15AM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady followed by a Mass at 9AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 1255 Pleasant Street Schenectady. Calling Hours will be Tuesday evening 5-8PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam.
