Barbara Hofmann

Barbara Hofmann, 88, died Saturday morning, August 28, 2021 at Ellis Hospital after a short illness. Born in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of Glenn and Edith. Barbara was a former employee of the General Electric Company and Knolls Atomic Power Lab. She also worked for La Salette Shrine before retiring. Barbara was predeceased by her siblings, Alice, Marion, Ira, Janet, and Richard and by her husbands Richard and Arthur. She is survived by her two children, Peter and his wife Colleen, and Heidi and her husband Sean; a grandson Liam, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Barb, also known as “Grandma Owl”, was very social and quick to laugh. She loved singing and dancing and she maintained lifelong friendships. She was a devout Catholic and her memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, 225 Lafayette St., Schenectady, N.Y. at a later date. There will be no calling hours by request. Interment will be private.

After much thought and careful consideration among our family, we have decided to postpone our mother's funeral and burial until Spring 2022. We will continue to monitor the Covid situation and let you know as soon as possible about future plans to celebrate her life when it is safe for everyone to attend.
