Barbara Deronda

Barbara A. DeRonda 77, Born on August 10th1944 passed away Thursday April 7th at home surrounded by her loving family after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Barbara was born and raised in Amsterdam, NY. The daughter of the late Olin and Edna (Walsh) Pierce and attended Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam.

Barbara was a resident of Rotterdam NY for 27 years and retired from The Golub Corporation.

Barbara enjoyed life, never failing to make you laugh, her love to give was endless and she was always the life of the party. Barbara loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her best friend Mary. She was an avid NASCAR fan, always cheering on her favorite driver #24 Jeff Gordon. She loved music, dancing, the beach and following the band Skeeter Creek.

Everyone who met Barbara loved her infectious personality.

Predeceased by her former companion Ronald McNeil, her three brothers and one sister, Thomas, Francis, Kenny and Donna Pierce. Barbara is survived by her four children, Cheryl Wintle (Vincent) of Rotterdam, Roger DeRonda of Schenectady, Roy DeRonda of Florida, Jeff DeRonda (Janet) of Florida and Ronald Euler (Cherish) of Canajoharie, her sister, Ella Mae Bassett (Bob) of Amsterdam, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Her daughter Cheryl and granddaughter Kayla would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Doyle, Dr. Wrzesinski and staff at New York Oncology Hematology for their exceptional care, David Ahl from Skeeter Creek for fulfilling her wish to see you guys one last time.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Wednesday afternoon April 13th from 3 to 5 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. Relatives and friends and invited to attend.
