Augustine J Ruzzo

Augustine 'Augie' Ruzzo, 81, died on March 15, 2017 while a resident of Capital Living Nursing & Rehab. He was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School & a lifelong resident of Schenectady, NY. He was employed for over 30 years by Schenectady International, working at the plant in Rotterdam Junction. Many of those years he spent working swing shifts, and he never called in. He was a hard working man and he instilled the value of hard work into his children. Augie and his wife, Arlene, enjoyed many summers at their camp on Lake Pleasant in Speculator, N.Y. Augie was an avid outdoorsman. He spent many hunting seasons in the woods with his sons, brothers & nephews. Fishing on Lake Pleasant was a great joy for him. He found peace in the woods and out on the lake. In his later years, he found much joy in his seven grandchildren. As Augie aged, his memory may have faded, but he was still in there, he kept his sense of humor and loved to joke that he had more hair than you. Augie was born on May 23, 1935 to Agostino and Alberta Petrocco Ruzzo . Augie was predeceased by his wife, Arlene Mirault Ruzzo, and his brothers, Patsy, Richard and Liberto 'Crow' Ruzzo. He is survived by his children Patricia (John) Karwatowski, Robert Ruzzo, Steven (Michele) Ruzzo, Lynne (Paul) Brown; loving gramps to Brent, Justin and Leanne Karwatowski, P.J. and Sophia Brown, Gracie Lynne Ruzzo and Anthony Ruzzo. He is also survived by his sister, Anna Latkowski , many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially dear family friend, Ann Kost. The family would like to thank the staff on the Maple Unit at Capital Living Nursing and Rehab for the wonderful care he received during his stay. Special thanks to Dori, Kristen & Mary. So many of the staff holds a special place in our hearts... Augie will be laid to rest with our Mom, his wife, Arlene. At long last, they will be reunited. Funeral Services for Augie will be on Monday at 9:15AM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady followed by a Mass at 10AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 210 Princetown Road Rotterdam. A calling hour will be held 8:15AM -9:15AM prior at the funeral home. The internment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. The family requests that donations in Augie's name be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
